The CAR Education Cluster released results of the remote assessment it conducted of 355 schools in all provinces of the country (14.5% of all primary schools in CAR). By mid-February 2014, 65% of the assessed schools were still closed, that is 16% more than during the previous assessment which took place six months earlier.

Even more worrying is the fact that 37% of previously enrolled students did not enroll at the beginning of the school year, most likely due to violence and displacement. Therefore, the risk is very high that an entire generation drops out of school permanently, with long term consequences for the stability and development of the country.
