The Education Cluster and UNICEF are hosting an Education Needs Assessment training in Divonne-les-Bains (France), close to Geneva, from 30 November to 4 December 2015.

The Education Cluster is currently working with a team of consultants to review its Rapid Joint Education Needs Assessment (RJENA) guide and training package in line with the significant advances made in the way humanitarian organisations conduct assessments, especially in terms of analysis, visualisation of data, use of technology for data collection and more formal secondary data/desk reviews, and in line with the revised Multi-Sector Initial Rapid Assessment tool (MIRA).

The course will run for five full days and will cover all aspects of needs assessment including the Multi-Sector Initial Rapid Assessment Tool (MIRA) and an updated guide to conduct Joint Education Needs Assessments.

There are 30 places on the course, with priority given to candidates in the following categories:

  • Education Cluster Staff currently working in major emergencies, including MoE counterparts
  • Deployable Standby, Emergency Response and Rapid Response Team Staff who are trained Cluster Coordinators or Information Managers
  • Regional and Global Advisors who provide technical support to current active Education Clusters
  • Global Education Cluster Partners staff whose role requires them to support education needs assessments (including in refugee settings)

The training budget will cover participants accommodation, breakfast, lunch and airport transfer. Global partners/country offices are expected to fund air fares and additional per-diem payments. Please contact us if the flight cost is prohibitive, we may be able to support country offices in exceptional cases.

To apply, please send your name, organisation, email, current job role and a CV to: lisa.sabot@savethechildren.org by Friday 6 November. Please copy your line manager/country cluster coordinator when submitting your application.

Please apply as a matter of urgency if you will require a Schengen visa to travel.
