Multi-Cluster/Sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) – IASC, 2015

September 1, 2015

The MIRA guidance is part of the IASC Transformative Agenda (TA) Protocols. The TA recognizes the critical role of needs assessment (NA) as a basis for overall and cluster stategy development; agreed that NA should be well coordinsted, rapid and repeated/reviewed as necessary to reflect the changing dynamics, drivers and needs in each country and agreed that the results of NA should inform the overall strategic planning and prioritization process.

NA represents one step in the Humanitarian Programme Cycle (HPC) and supports the response analysis conducted for strategic response planning.

The Multi-Cluster/Sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) is a joint needs assessment tool that can be used in sudden onset emergencies, including L3 emergencies: Multi-Sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA)

Further guidance, tools and best practices are available in the online MIRA toolbox: https://www.humanitarianresponse.info/en/programme-cycle/space/needs-assessment-mira-toolbox

    Hello,
I heart about the CHIRA tool, to include child participation in the MIRA assessment, and I was very interested in having acess to it. Could you send me the tool or the link to download it?

    Thank you very much.
