Launch of the 2022-2025 Global Education Cluster Strategy

We are delighted to announce the launch of the 2022-2025 Global Education Cluster Strategy, available in English, French and Spanish.

Worsening and protracted conflicts and escalating climate crisis has led to record levels of displacement and exacerbated complexity of the humanitarian landscape with mixed IDP-refugee contexts and blurred humanitarian-development lines. Robust coordination is foundational for strong systemic capacity required to deliver quality responses in a sector that has been stretched by the growing needs of children and youth

With this in mind, the new GEC Strategy serves four main purposes:

  1. Provide an operational framework of key priorities for the GEC. This strategy also informs country-level strategic focus areas, and clarifies issues for support and attention
  2. Forge a partnership of education in emergencies stakeholders at both global and country levels around a common vision and action.
  3. Through improved advocacy, attract further attention, support and funding for education in emergencies, particularly for the most underfunded Humanitarian Response Plans.
  4. Drive change and progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 4 targets for children and youth in crisis throughout the education in emergencies sector and Country Education Clusters.

We look forward to working with our partners towards realizing the vision set forth by our new strategy; collective action – all GEC members using their respective strengths and expertise to undertake joint actions across strategic objectives – will be essential to achieving this strategy and meeting education in emergencies needs.
